SCARLETT: A THREE-LEGGED SWEETHEART - BY HER MOM

In March 2022, after living in Lebanon with my two adopted dogs, Jane and Skye, I decided to move to France. Since my dogs were comfortable and had a warm bond with my parents, they remained with them. However, I felt the need to have a feline companion by my side. When I resided in Lebanon, Jane and Skye were my life companions. Jane, whom I initially wanted to name Scarlett, stayed in Lebanon with Skye while I settled in France. I always had the desire to adopt a pet with special needs, but the urgent situation prompted me to welcome and eventually adopt Jane and Skye into my home.As a special educator working with young people with disabilities for ten years, I have always been drawn to beings that require special care. Adopting a three-legged cat was a conscious choice guided by my belief that all animals deserve a chance, regardless of their differences.A few months after my arrival in France, I discovered Elias and Friends, an organization in collaboration with Adopt Don't Shop in Lebanon. Meeting Marie, a warm and dedicated person, I was introduced to cats ready for adoption in France. Among them, Scarlett caught my attention, both due to her name and her three legs.
I always had the desire to adopt a pet with special needs, but the urgent situation prompted me to welcome and eventually adopt Jane and Skye into my home.
As a special educator working with young people with disabilities for ten years, I have always been drawn to beings that require special care. Adopting a three-legged cat was a conscious choice guided by my belief that all animals deserve a chance, regardless of their differences.
A few months after my arrival in France, I discovered Elias and Friends, an organization in collaboration with Adopt Don’t Shop in Lebanon. Meeting Marie, a warm and dedicated person, I was introduced to cats ready for adoption in France. Among them, Scarlett caught my attention, both due to her name and her three legs. My instinct told me that Scarlett was the cat I was looking for.
Thus begins the extraordinary story of Scarlett, a three-legged cat. Her survival story in Lebanon, where conditions for animals are not always easy, strengthened my determination to provide her with a better life in France. I instantly knew that Scarlett and I were destined to share an exceptional journey.
The process of Scarlett adapting to her new environment was a straightforward yet emotional journey. The little one quickly integrated into her new life. Despite her condition, she demonstrated incredible resilience, and our bond strengthened over time.
The story of Scarlett, my three-legged cat, is a celebration of love, resilience, and the importance of giving a second chance to animals in need. Every day, she inspires me with her strength and adaptability, showing that unconditional love overcomes all barriers. Adopting Scarlett unexpectedly enriched my life, reinforcing my conviction that every animal deserves a chance to find a loving home.
