I WANTED A PURE BREED, A SCOTTISH FOLD

Ilissa Harb shared with us her story when she bought an illegally shipped kitten, from a breeder. Please read her story below:I bought a cat. My friends told me to adopt but I insisted on buying one because I wanted a pure breed, a Scottish fold. I searched on a well-known selling platform and found the perfect one. I immediately fell in love with his pictures and contacted George, the breeder. He sent me a video to show me the kitten, and that was how Mishka was supposed to look like: Screenshot extracted from the video sent by the breeder But when I actually got him, he looked like this (after a warm long bath): On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, I went to Dora to get Mishka. He was horrifyingly skinny, very dirty, he smelled like poop, he was shivering and his whiskers were cut off. Add to that, Mishka was actually 2 months old, but on the passport, it was written that he was 4 (the fraud was intended in order to be able to ship him to Lebanon). I paid George 250$ for the kitten, and once he gave him to me, he asked me not to take Mishka to the vet for 7 days because he needs to ‘rest’. When we reached home, I gave him a bath, dried him immediately then kept him warm. I stayed up all night taking care of him: He was very weak.A few hours later, Mishka started having diarrhea, so I …

On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, I went to Dora to get Mishka. He was horrifyingly skinny, very dirty, he smelled like poop, he was shivering and his whiskers were cut off. Add to that, Mishka was actually 2 months old, but on the passport, it was written that he was 4 (the fraud was intended in order to be able to ship him to Lebanon).

A few hours later, Mishka started having diarrhea, so I contacted George for help. He told me that it’s probably because we changed the food he was eating.

The next morning, my mom noticed that he was in critical condition, so she took him quickly to the veterinarian clinic while I was at school. We discovered that Mishka had the symptoms of Parvovirus (Panleukopenia), a dangerous and deadly disease and that he had only a 30% chance of survival. Mishka died during the night at the clinic.

Why shouldn’t we support breeding? First, they attach the female pets, let the males rape them, over and over again, many times per year. Then, they take the babies away from their mothers, and sell them. They starve them, don’t vaccinate them, leave some of them to die without medical supervision.

So please, if you want to get a pet, adopt. Don’t make the same mistake that I did. These are souls. They feel pain and have emotions just like us. Adopt, Don’t Shop. Stop this horror.
